CAT ZODIAC

post-pop apocalypse 9.16.22

This project started just before the world went to hell in early 2020. Cat Zodiac’s first album was written in the thick of it, inspiring the hauntingly playful, intimate, and sometimes dark themes in this collection of songs.

A video performance was recorded at Sequoyah Studios for a virtual music festival called World Vibe Fest in mid-2021. The release of the videos to YouTube will follow the live studio album release on September 16, 2022.

Cat Zodiac gives great feedback

That tappy two-handed math rock

People dig that

Cat Zodiac would do anything for deathklok

Kills 99.9% of viruses and bacteria

Cat Zodiac is 6'2", big on listening, and down to frack

Hasn't had a carbohydrate since 1997

Cat Zodiac has been there

Cat Zodiac is a collective of three Knoxville coffee shops

Cat Zodiac is actually three raccoons in a trench coat

the legend of CAT ZODIAC

Born at the base of a great volcano, Cat Zodiac is currently working on their second masters degree and enjoying raising two babies in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Matthew, Mark, Colton and Jeremy formed a band in Jeremy’s office in the summer of 2019. In early 2020, Klay showed up. The first time all five of them got in the same room, Cat Zodiac recorded the first version of Broken Glass.

Almost every song starts as a jam. The good ones get jammed on again and evolve into songs. The best ones can’t be reproduced, but the recordings are on our secret soundcloud.

what does CAT ZODIAC sound like?

The Strokes and Alanis Morissette had a baby. The baby grew up listening to Pink Floyd and Nine Inch Nails, and that became Cat Zodiac.

Totally underground. Post-genre, a combination of metal sounds with no fear of jazz.

When you hear Klay’s lyrics, it feels like they’re describing something that’s happened to you in your own life, your own story. Vague, but relatable and symbolic, swinging back and forth between the symbolic and the real.

The moody lyrics can come across very emo.

The music we make has more to do with what we’re feeling when we make the song than what we want to sound like.

We are Cat Zodiac, and we love you.
